Climate change is already affecting us in Cwm Taf Morgannwg (CTM). We have experienced devastating impacts across the region. Understanding both current and future local climate change risks is increasingly important for us all.
As highlighted in our Well-being Assessment 2022, our communities are increasingly concerned about climate change and flooding, and we are listening.
Climate Change Risk Assessment
A climate change risk assessment considers how elements of climate change, such as increased summer temperatures, more rainfall, more frequent extreme weather events, and rising sea levels, will impact the health and safety of our population and communities. For example, how it will affect our environment, the sustainability of our businesses and services, and the availability of food, water, and other resources we depend on. We appointed Dr. Alan Netherwood and Dafydd Thomas as independent consultants who undertook the risk assessment, which brought together information on past climate events and current plans and actions; engaged over 221 participants across 33 organisations, including experts from partner organisations and local community members.
